Directorate General of SDPPI and ASIOTI Collaborate to Push Local IoT Industry Towards Global Market

Jakarta – The Internet of Things (IoT) industry in Indonesia continues to show great potential with a projected market value of USD 6.02 billion in 2029. To support this growth, the Directorate General of Resources and Postal and Informatics Equipment (Ditjen SDPPI) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is collaborating with the Indonesian Internet of Things Association (ASIOTI) in increasing the role of local products in the IoT industry. One of the strategic efforts undertaken is through the implementation of the IoT Smart Solutions Initiative 2024, which was held at the Pullman Central Park Hotel, West Jakarta. This event aims to advance the Indonesian IoT ecosystem by presenting 143 IoT solutions from various parties. IoT Solutions Directory Launch Director of Postal and Informatics Equipment Standardization, Mulyadi, revealed the importance of the IoT Solution Directory launched in this activity. This directory functions as an information center to facilitate access for local industry players in developing and implementing IoT-based solutions. Collaboration between Government and Industry The Directorate General of SDPPI and ASIOTI emphasized the importance of synergy between government, industry, and society in building a strong digital ecosystem. This step is part of the vision to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global arena, especially in the IoT technology industry. In addition, ASIOTI has set 12 national standards for IoT development in Indonesia. These standards serve as the main guidelines in creating IoT solutions that suit the needs of local and global markets. ASIOTI’s Long Term Commitment ASIOTI also shows a serious commitment to improving human resource competency through professional certification and expanding collaboration with global partners. With this approach, ASIOTI hopes to support industry players in creating superior and competitive IoT innovations. Rapid Growth of IoT Industry According to the latest data, global IoT revenue has reached USD 2.15 billion, with an annual growth of 22.87 percent which is projected to continue to increase for the next five years. In Indonesia, this growth is expected to have a significant impact on various sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, and public services. Indonesia Towards a Digital Future With various initiative strategies and collaborations, the Directorate General of SDPPI and ASIOTI are optimistic that Indonesia will be able to compete in the global digital market. Support for local products will not only strengthen the domestic industry, but also open up great opportunities for Indonesia to become a major player in IoT technology. Kemkominfo Increases Frequency Awareness in Waterways through the MOTS program

Jakarta – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemkominfo) through the Directorate General of Resources and Postal and Informatics Equipment (Ditjen SDPPI) continues to strive to increase awareness and understanding of the use of radio frequency frequencies in Indonesian waters. One of the strategic steps is through the Maritime On The Spot (MOTS) program which has been running since 2019. This program aims to educate frequency users, including fishermen, and prevent harmful interference (dangerous interference) due to inappropriate frequency use. To support the success of the program, the Ministry of Communication and Information collaborates with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). MOTS 2024: Focus on 5 Aspects of Strengthening In 2024, the MOTS program will be strengthened through five main aspects: One of the leading activities in this program is the Training of Trainers (ToT), which is carried out routinely at least once a year to improve the competence of frequency users. Positive Impact of MOTS Program Since its launch, the MOTS program has reached 35 Technical Implementation Units (UPT) in various waters of Indonesia. Regular education and information updates to frequency users have helped reduce interference and improve communication efficiency in the maritime sector. With the strengthening carried out in 2024, this program is expected to be able to provide greater benefits, especially for communities that depend on the fisheries sector. “If you have an electronic device product with frequency technology intended for waters or fisheries that you want to sell in Indonesia, consult with Jten immediately.”

Check Postel Certification for Items with These Specifications!

SDPPI certification is crucial when marketing telecommunication products in Indonesia. One mandatory certificate is the SDPPI Postel certificate. Items requiring SDPPI certification include those with telecommunication features such as Bluetooth, WLAN, NFC/SRD, or Cellular (GSM, WCDMA, LTE, 5G). So, does TWS (True Wireless Stereo) have to be certification? Yes, TWS must have an SDPPI certificate because it includes Bluetooth, one of the components that require testing. Items are not required to have certification if they do not have any of these features or only have a GPS receiver. Additionally, some items such as computers/PCs, network devices, switches, routers, and servers also need SDPPI certification. Currently, Indonesia is in the process of compiling a list of telecommunication equipment and/or devices based on the mandate of PM Kominfo No. 3 of 2024 Article 33, which regulates the supervision of telecommunication equipment and/or devices based on the harmonized system code. Furthermore, this compilation is also based on the updates of the Indonesian Customs Tariff Book (BTKI) 2022 by the Ministry of Finance. Some of the updates include references to the Harmonized System (HS Code), the number of HS Codes, the number of device groups, the method of item digit numbering, and HS Code groups.
