SNI Certification for Telecommunication Products: Required to Market Devices in Indonesia

Telecommunication product certification is a mandatory requirement for manufacturers, importers, and distributors before marketing their devices in Indonesia. Type Approval or SDPPI, which is regulated by the Ministry of Communication and Digital of the Republic of Indonesia (KOMDIGI), ensures that each device meets national standards related to frequency, safety, and electromagnetic compatibility. Why is Type Approval Certification Important? Without this certification, telecommunication devices such as mobile phones, routers, Wi-Fi devices, and radio transmitters cannot be legally sold in Indonesia. This certification aims to: ✅ Ensuring User Safety – Avoiding the risk of electromagnetic interference that could harm other devices. ✅ Ensuring Quality and Compliance – Ensuring that products comply with national technical standards. ✅ Easier Distribution and Marketing – Certified products are easier to accept in the market and trusted by consumers. How is the certification process done? Telecommunication Product Certification Services PT Jelajah Teknologi Nusantara is ready to help your business in the certification process. New Regulation on Wireless Power Transmission: KEPMEN 46/2025 Officially Takes Effect!

Jakarta (Jten) – Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) technology is increasingly developing and is used in various electronic devices such as wireless chargers, electric vehicles, and medical devices. However, to ensure safety and efficiency of use, the Indonesian government has updated related regulations by issuing KEPMEN 46 of 2025 as a replacement for KEPMEN 260 of 2024. Changes to WPT Regulations in KEPMEN 46/2025 This new regulation regulates several important aspects, including: ✔ New Frequency Bands – Safer and more efficient spectrum adjustment. ✔  Strong Limits of Electromagnetic Fields – Reduces the potential for interference to other devices. ✔ Spurious Emission – Limiting unwanted emissions so as not to interfere with radio communications. ✔ Testing Standards – Using international methods to guarantee the quality of the device. New Frequency Bands for WPT The latest regulations set the frequency spectrum for WPT to be more structured and less interference: Strong Limits of Electromagnetic Fields In order for the WPT device not to interfere with other devices, the strong limit of the electromagnetic field is set as follows: WPT Testing Method Based on KEPMEN 46/2025 To obtain official certification, WPT devices must go through rigorous testing based on international standards EN 300 330 and EN 303 417. These tests include: ✔ Frequency Measurement – Ensures the device operates in the permitted spectrum. ✔  Field Strength Measurement – Performed at a distance of 10 meters to evaluate radiation levels. ✔ Unwanted Emission Test – Ensures there is no excessive electromagnetic interference. ✔ Power Efficiency Evaluation – Measures how optimally the power transmitted to the receiving device is. Benefits of Complying with KEPMEN Regulation 46/2025 By complying with this new standard, WPT device manufacturers and users can reap a variety of benefits: Conclusion With the enactment of KEPMEN 46 of 2025, regulations on Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) devices in Indonesia are now stricter to ensure the safety and efficiency of their use. If you are a WPT manufacturer or distributor, make sure that your device meets this new standard in order to be legally and safely marketed.

Ministry of Communication and Information Establishes Free Space Optics (FSO) Technical Standards, Manufacturers Must Meet Regulations

Jakarta (Jten) – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemkominfo) has set technical standards for Free Space Optics (FSO) telecommunications devices through Ministerial Decree Number 59 of 2022. This regulation aims to ensure that FSO devices circulating in Indonesia meet safety and interoperability standards. What is Free Space Optics (FSO)? FSO is a wireless optical communication technology that uses light waves in the air to transmit data. This technology functions like fiber optics, but without using physical cables. With a point-to-point system, FSO can send data in the form of images, videos, and radio signals at high speeds, reaching up to 160 Gb/s under optimal conditions. Advantages and Characteristics of FSO Compared to radio or microwave-based communication systems, FSO has several advantages, including: This technology is ideal for use in metropolitan area networks (MAN) and can be an alternative to expand the internet network at a more efficient cost. Ministry of Communication and Information Regulation: Technical Standards Must Be Met In Ministerial Decree 59/2022, FSO devices must meet two main technical standard categories, namely: 1. General Requirements 2. Interoperability Requirements Standardization Awareness is Important for Industry This regulation not only ensures the safety and quality of devices used by the public, but also provides certainty for manufacturers and distributors in supplying products that meet standards. In addition, this regulation also contributes to environmental protection and supervision of devices circulating in the market. For manufacturers and distributors who wish to obtain certification from SDPPI, assistance services are now available to simplify the application process to certification.
