Jakarta – The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) together with the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) of South Korea is accelerating the implementation of the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) in telecommunications device testing. This collaboration aims to facilitate device certification through recognition of laboratory test results from both countries.
On September 23-27, 2024, the PPI Standardization Directorate visited Seoul to discuss strategic steps with the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) of South Korea. The implementation of MRA is scheduled to begin in May 2025, after a series of trainings, workshops, and evaluations of test laboratories.
Mulyadi, Director of Standardization of PPI, emphasized that the MRA will strengthen the domestic testing industry and ensure the equality of standards between Indonesian and South Korean testing laboratories. This agreement is a follow-up to the Letter of Intent signed in March 2024 in Bali and the Phase I MRA Agreement in May 2024 in Jakarta.
The laboratory recognition evaluation process is scheduled for April 2025 with final approval from the Director General of SDPPI and the Director General of RRA. This cooperation is expected to increase the efficiency of device certification, strengthen the telecommunications industry, and strengthen bilateral relations in the digital sector.
